Station descriptions

Station 1 - Bubbles:  
  • No experience is necessary.
  • We will learn:  Water adaptation and air exchange
Station 2 - Floats & Glides:  
  • Swimmer is comfortable in the water, putting face in by him or herself
  • We will learn:  Front Float/Glide and Back Float/Glide
Station 3 - Kicking:
  • Swimmer is able to Front and Back Float independently
  • We will learn:  Front and Back kicking
Station 4 - Front Crawl:
  • Swimmer is able to front kick and glide and back kick and glide from the wall.
  • We will learn:  Beginning front crawl, proper arms with head position and side kicking
Station 5 - Freestyle:
  • Swimmer know the front crawl to be in this class.
  • We will learn:  Crawl with side breathing
Station 6 - Backstroke:
  • Swimmers know Front Crawl with side breathing to be in this Station
  • We will learn:  Backstroke
Station 7 - Breaststroke and Butterfly:
  • Swimmers must know Backstroke, and tread water for 1 minute.
  • We will learn:  Breaststroke kick and Butterfly
Station 8 - Turns:
  • Swimmers must complete 50 yard Freestyle, 25 Backstroke.
  • We will learn​:  propers turns and bi-lateral breathing
Station 9 - Lifetime Strokes:
  • Swimmers must complete 100 yard freestyle, 25 Breaststroke and 12 1/2 Butterfly
  • We will continue endurance training, and learn Elementary Backstroke and Sidestroke
Station 10 - Individual Medley:
  • Swimmers must know all four competitive strokes and Lifetime Strokes
  • To pass Station 10, swimmers must complete 300 yard Freestyle, 100  yards Backstroke, and 100 Individual Medley
Little Sharks Swim Academy offers a unique program where a child can learn to swim on in an on-going program.  The YEAR AROUND lessons are offered once a week for 30 min, for four weeks.  This is a tuition based program where you can continue for as long as you would like.  We allow a two week tuition free, vacation for each calendar year.  During the summer months, you have a choice of continuing the YEAR AROUND program, doing SHARK CAMPS, or doing both.  Sharks progress at their own rate.  There are different options on times based on available and abilities.  
  • There are 10 Station levels for School-Age.  Progression to the next Station is based on the individual mastery of the child.  All advancements are monitored through the Program Manager.
  • Upon annual registration, each Shark will receive either a 1mm thermal wetsuit (Stations 1-4) sizes available are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14,  a one-piece competitive suit for girls (european sizes 22,24,26,28,30), or jammers (like bike shorts) for boys (4/5, 6/7, 8-10, 11/12).  The thermal wetsuit provides a slight amount of buoyancy, and warmth.

Pre-Comp (Station 7-10)


  • 50 min, one or two days a week
  • This is for Little Sharks who are in Stations 8-10
  • There is a ratio of 1 Coach: 15 Little Sharks
  • Here they will learn turns, dives, Lifetime Strokes, and complete a 300 yard Freestyle, 100 yard Backstroke, and 100 yard IM
  • Parents will learn their roll in what it takes to be at a swim meet.

Station 6


  • 30 min, one or two days a week
  • This is for Little Sharks who are in Station 7
  • There is a ratio of 1 Coach: 8 Little Sharks
